Serving In Mareeba

Jamie grew up in Melbourne and became a Christian aged 17 after reading a Gideon’s bible that he received at high school. Sarah was raised in a Christian family that was active in the Presbyterian church. She always remembers loving God but fully committed herself to the Lord at 17. Before they were married they made enquires, at the then MAF Box Hill office, regarding the possibilities of service, but didn’t pursue it. Jamie went on to serve as an air traffic controller at Melbourne, Essendon and Adelaide towers over the next 17 years, while Sarah worked as an occupational therapist prior to moving to Adelaide in 2003.
Jamie and Sarah have four children John 15, William 12, Phoebe 9, and Charlie 6. Following a number of medical crises, including a serious back injury and a miraculous recovery for Jamie, God began to place a strong desire in their hearts to seek and serve Him, anywhere, anyhow.
Shortly thereafter they received an unsolicited letter from the father of a MAF pilot asking them to consider God’s call on their lives and the possibility of serving with MAF.
Jamie and Sarah prayerfully sought the Lord and believe that God was indeed calling. They approached MAF in 2013 regarding the possibilities for service.
Jamie has now been serving for almost 3 years in the Maintenance and Training Manager role at Mareeba.
The Mareeba base, which is part of the Aviation Department, is instrumental in supporting the programmes located in the Asia Pacific region.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
